Clay and wax Detail
A clay bar lifts overspray, industrial fallout and bonded contaminants off the paint, then a hand wax leaves it smooth as glass.

What a clay and wax does
Run your fingers over the hood of a car that has not been clayed and you will feel grit, even right after a wash. That is fallout, overspray, tree sap and brake dust that has bonded to the clear coat. Washing does not remove it. A clay bar, worked over every panel with lubricant, pulls it off. Then the hand wax goes on a truly clean surface, which is why it shines deeper and lasts longer than a wax alone.
Twice a year. It is the best value detail on the menu for a car that is otherwise in good shape.

Questions about clay and wax
Short answers. If yours is not here, call us at (858) 622-9985.
After a wash, put your hand in a thin plastic bag and run it over the paint. If it feels rough or gritty, there is bonded contamination and clay is the fix.
Not when it is done with plenty of lubricant and a fresh bar, which is how we do it. Claying removes the grit that would otherwise scratch the paint every time the car is wiped.
Clay and wax cleans the surface and protects it. The exterior detail adds machine polishing, which also removes light scratches and oxidation before the wax goes on.
